まずはGoogleアカウントに登録
サイトマップを作って登録するだけならアカウントは必要ないが、サイトマップの状態を追跡し、登録したものへの診断情報を見ることができるようにするにはアカウントに登録しなければならない。
なお、アカウントは日本のGoogleでも取得できるが、サイトマップを利用するには米Googleのアカウントでないと利用できない。

上のリンクをクリックすると、次のようなアカウント作成画面が出るので必要項目にメールアドレスとパスワード（半角英数6文字以上）を記入する。
次に下段に表示されている画像の歪んだ英数字を、テキストボックスに記入する。
メールアドレスとパスワードは後でサインインする時に必要なので、忘れないよう記録しておこう。
送信が完了すると、次のようなメールが送られてくる。

メーラーによっては直接アクセスできないので、URLをブラウザにコピー＆ペースト。
以下のような画面が出ればアカウント作成は完了。
Click here to continue. と書かれたリンクをクリックすると、サイトマップステータス画面に移動する。
